The League of Legends group here at the ICL eSports society is welcoming to all types of players. At the very least, this group provides a platform for you and likeminded people to get together and have some fun playing the game. However, most people use it for more than that.
We compete with other universities across the country in the National University Esports League (NUEL) and if you wish to participate, we will place you on a team. Everyone wants something different out of NUEL so as well as matching people with similar ranks, we try and match people that want to take it as seriously as each other. This way, you can have a few laughs or throw your try-hard pants on, whatever takes your fancy. If you do make it into our top team, you will have the opportunity to play against UCL as part of our eSports varsity, which you should definitely go to regardless if you are competing or not, it’s awesome.
In addition to the above, we host LAN parties throughout the year, including our own 1v1 tournament on campus to determine once and for all who the 1v1 master is. Furthermore, we organise viewing parties for the World Championship final and given enough interest, can do the same for other smaller professional games. Lastly, we are still a growing society so if there is anything more you think we could do, let us know and we’ll try make it happen.
